24. Alchemy
Alchemy is permitted only to those who are truly detached enough to receive the power, the wealth and the unveiled life without ever being tempted to use it against anyone or to put down others or to glorify oneself personally.
Unfortunately, many of those who take it up do so in a spirit of financial gain that leads them irremediably astray, and all their malice turns against them, ruins them in all ways and makes them stagnate before the wall of reasoning reason for their whole life, despite their remarkable faith in the reality of divine science. That is why we must pray to and entice the masters who have possessed thoroughly this holy science, in order to be inspired by them in its research so long and so difficult that scarcely one or two men in billions manage it without the instruction of a living master, that is, incarnate, for the masters are, precisely, living beings par excellence, like Christ.
Life is short, art is long and difficult and all men concern themselves with the vain things of the world. That is why there are so few living beings.
281. Alchemy and Rosy-Cross
The chemical essays of d’Eckhartshausen are interesting, but not indispensable.
The cross denotes the elements, and can be interpreted as elementary. Elie-Artiste is the triumphant Christ in all the Sons of God brought together for the judgement at the end of time.
«Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree». These texts from Ezekiel are alchemical like all the other authentic ancient texts, and this one is full of secret teaching: «I will judge thee in the place where thou wast created, in the land of thy nativity». You’ll also recognize this one: «Thou art the land that is not cleansed, nor rained upon» as the epigraph to Book xi of The Message Rediscovered.
The freemasons’ mallet plays an important role in alchemical esotericism. It is what splits the raw material.
The red is the solar perfection of stone and silver, the lunar perfection.
Do not ask yourself too much what your investigations are, and do not analyze your quest. It is enough for you to pursue the Lord relentlessly to be certain of staying on the right path, for he said: «I am the way and the life».
All the cults of resurrection are linked to the great germinal mystery that is the kernel of all religions and all serious and traditional secret societies. When one knows the object of the rites and symbols of just one of them, all the others become quite easy to understand, and one can even restore them exactly to their place if some disturbance has moved them and shifted them from the position they should occupy.
